11 - Media literacy


Media Literacy is a 21st century approach education. It provides a framework to access, analyze, evaluate, create and participate with messages in a variety of forms from printing to video of internet

Literacy is referred to the ability to read and write. Nowadays people are more on technology because now we are living in a technology world. Media Literacy uses television, radio, internet, newspaper, books, billboard, video games, music and other from of media. Some people discovered that media literacy is one way to learn easily and effectively. Media literacy engage ways to apply critical thinking skills to a wide range of issues.

Media literacy skills can help youth and adults:
-Develop critical thinking skills
-Understand how media messages shape our culture and society
-Recognize bias, spin, misinformation, and lies
-Being independent


But there are disadvantages of media literacy. Here are some:
-Being dependent
-Sometimes you don't know if the statement is truth or wrong
-Less use book materials (such as bible, encyclopedia, dictionary etc.)
-Illiterate in using libraries
-Being spoon-fed of informations
